Laminated Copies

We will permit hikers to use laminated colour copies or extracts of the appropriate maps. This can mean a saving on map purchases, and can produce a convenient and durable alternative.

We do, however, stipulate a number of conditions:

  1. all of the footpaths and checkpoints on the particular route are shown, together with sufficient escape routes
  2. the map symbols and on the copy must be in same colour as the original map
  3. it must be possible to work out the National Grid Reference of any point on the map, therefore northing and easting axis should be included.

Hikers are reminded of the copyright rules that apply to duplication of maps and it is your responsibility to ensure you are not breaking the law!

The Scout Association has a licence permitting limited reproduction of certain maps when used as part of the training and instruction of persons under 18 year. Read licence factsheet (PDF) on Scoutbase.
